NAGRA highlights scalable service protection and smart content aggregation and monetisation solutions at CSTB 2020

Cheseaux, Switzerland and Phoenix, Ariz. - January 16, 2020 - At CSTB Telecom and Media, the annual industry event in Russia that has been bringing together, in one venue, all the experts of the telecom and media industry for more than 20 years, NAGRA, a Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD.S) company and the worlds leading independent provider of content protection and multiscreen television solutions, will demonstrate how pay-TV operators and content owners can enable true digital transformation by embracing innovation and rethinking their business models. NAGRA's latest technologies and solutions will be on display on stand 731 in Hall 7 from January 28-30 at the Crocus Expo in Moscow, Russia.

The global pay-TV industry is undergoing a significant transformation, and Russia is no exception, said Larisa Makarovskaya, Area Sales Director Russia at NAGRA. As the region goes through its own digital transformation, pay-TV operators are at a critical time in their operations where they must execute on the next phase of growth. The NAGRA CSTB 2020 showcase will focus on two key areas:

Scalable Service Protection: NAGRA's holistic approach to content protection goes beyond CAS and DRM to ensure operators are armed to overcome the many threats levied against their service - whether direct threats to content or broader threats at the service level from the increasing adoption of IoT devices. It features cloud-based solutions that scale across operations of different sizes, provide online trial options and leverage adaptive security for optimal performance across a vast client device ecosystem. They include:

- NAGRA cloud.SSP: The advanced and modular software-as-a-service (SaaS) security services platform that comprehensively addresses all dimensions of content and service protection for the connected world.

- NAGRA Connect: A unified security client that addresses both broadband and broadcast use cases in a single client technology.

- Conax Contego: A unified security platform that enables ready-to-deploy solutions.

- NAGRA HomeScout: An IoT solution for operators that harnesses the power of hardware and cloud-based security to enable a secure connected home.

Key components of NAGRA's scalable service protection offering, these solutions enable operators, content owners and sports leagues to protect their premium live channels and VOD assets, while fighting the growing threat of illicit content sharing and commercial piracy. NAGRA Anti-Piracy Services and forensic watermarking technologies enable effective action by stopping piracy at the source, marking content delivered to devices, disrupting pirate content delivery infrastructure or blocking pirate service access by working with residential ISPs.

Smart aggregation and monetisation: For operators seeking a ready-to deploy end-to-end OTT solution, Conax GO Live provides live TV streaming and VOD to Android and iOS devices, with start-over and catch up TV capabilities, with a guaranteed deployment time of less than 30 days. Running on AWS, Conax GO Live operates on the Conax Contego unified content security platform supporting major native DRMs. Recent deployments of Conax GO Live will be on display.

For broadcasters, OTTs and telcos, going D2C opens a new, de facto distribution window. On the consumer side, it offers broadcasters direct access to a more intimate relationship with their audience. But it also means addressing new piracy threats - especially when it comes to live sports content.
