Newly Renovated MIST Harlem Theatre Takes Up the Reins as the Equus Film Festival Promotes a Full Stable of More than 100 Winning Films on

We have over 100 amazing films and media projects from all over the world screening in stunning HD across three digital screens, said Lisa Diersen, Founder of the Equus Film Festival. From Japan to France, the wilds of Mongolia to the inner cities, horses have a tremendous impact on our lives. The Equus Film Festival celebrates them in all their magnificence.

The Equus Film Festival brings to light the real diversity of the horse world. This event works positively and powerfully through media to educate and overcome many elitist misconceptions, stated Sarah Chase, Chief Business Officer of Horse Lifestyle Media, which is helping to further develop the event into 2015. The majority of the films, like the racing industry documentary The Black Turf Project' and the Native American film Dakota 38,' are dedicated to letting the true spirit of this global community shine through.

The Equus Film Festival gallops into New York City on Friday, November 21st and Saturday, November 22nd to highlight and award the diverse and creative efforts of those in indie film, music, and advertising, who artistically pay homage to the horse. The films show the rich history and diverse tapestry of the horse in human history, culture, media, and the arts. More than 100 films, shorts, music videos, and commercials will be screened.

Tickets for the Equus Film Festival are now on sale. Tickets are $25 per-day and the VIP Awards Party is an additional $25. Children under 15 may attend for free. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at: EquusFilmFestival.com Tickets can also be purchased at the door. The Equus Film Festival will be held at MIST Harlem and run from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day.

On Saturday morning the film, Black Rodeo,' by director Jeff Kanew will be returning to Harlem for the first time since 1972. This is really a significant event, which will be free for the public, said Lisa Diersen. The film includes such notable names as Muhammad Ali and Woody Strode. Saturday's program will begin early at 10:30 a.m. with free screenings for children and the community. In addition to Black Rodeo,' the film Dakota 38' will also be screened for free as part of a special celebration being held to honor Native American Heritage Month. This complimentary event will feature family-friendly media and free popcorn for everyone. The main film festival will begin at noon. On Saturday night, the festival will wrap at 9:00 p.m. with an exclusive VIP Awards Party for the 2014 honorees.
