Community Films has welcomed international Director Albert Uria to the companys diverse roster of talent for representation in the U.S. Originally from Spain, Uria splits his time between Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Barcelona. He joins a directorial roster at Community Films, which includes: Marius Crowne, Seth Gordon, Jared Hess, Michael Patrick Jann, Emil M ller, Matt Smukler, Pam Thomas, Clay Tweel, and Clay Williams.
We are really happy to welcome Albert into the Community family, comments EP/Partner Lizzie Schwartz. Part of that has to do with what he brings as a filmmaker. Albert can tell stories visually, comedically, with and without dialogue, and he always connects with the viewer.
You can see this best in his automotive work, adds Carl Swan, Community Films EP/Partner. He creates worlds that are visually striking enough to show off a cars beauty, while at the same time allowing space for the actors to breathe and for the stories to build. We are excited to match Alberts bad-ass talents to the creative in the U.S. Market.
A true international Director, Albert splits his time between L.A., Barcelona, and Mexico City. Before learning the tools of the trade as a Director, he studied at the Photography Institute of Barcelona. His enthusiasm and his passion for discovering new talent led him to produce four short films and direct two of them, earning several awards including a nomination for the Spanish Academy Film Awards. Commercials quickly followed and he founded Garage Films in 2003. Now based in Europe, South America and the U.S. since then, he has directed for brands such as Nike, Ikea, Ford, Nissan, Honda, X-Box, Motorola and VW, leading him to be a three-time finalist in the Cannes Lions Festival and winning 10 advertising worldwide awards like FIAP/NY and Golden AMPE. His profound interest for the human condition led him to study at the Government School of Harvard and to direct his first award-winning documentary NY Showcase. The combination of all his passions has developed Alberts highly aesthetic visual style.
When I was a kid, I loved imagining stories and building blanket forts in my room with my brother, concludes Director Albert Uria. Without really being aware of it, we felt safe at home, taken care of, so I could play with no boundaries. Im not a kid anymore but I still love playing and creating. Lizzie and Carl have made me feel safe and free to have fun at Community. So, I am.
