Uzalo's Mthambisi Phakathi had his eyes on Nkunzi's wife' Gabisile from the moment he arrived in KwaMashu. This makes us wonder if he's the mysterious Putin that we've been hearing about.

WHY MTHAMBISI PHAKATHI FITS PUTIN'S PERSONALITY Putin is not only Nkunzi's enemy, but the Magwaza's too Mthambisi Phakathi fits the mysterious description of Putin as he already has his eyes on Gabisile and the two will have an affair which will rock Uzalo's fan-favourite couple.

The police commissioner, who recently arrived at KwaMashu's police station could also be on Putin's payroll and part of his plan as he stopped Mondli and his team from investigation Putin and insisted they arrest Nkunzi (Masoja Msiza) instead.

We've never met the mysterious villainous character of Putin as viewers only heard rumours about how corrupt and evil he is from the Magwazas and Nkunzi himself.

We also suspect he was the one following Gabisile (Baby Cele) a few weeks ago when she thought her life is in danger.

UZALO: WILL GABISILE AND NKUNZI SURVIVE HER BETRAYAL? The show's fan-favourite couple Nkunzi and Gabisile will also go through a rough patch when she cheats on him with Mthambisi Phakathi.

The TVSA September teasers reveal that Gabisile and Nkunzi will struggle to reconnect romantically and she will be drawn to him from the beginning.

The Thursday 22 September reveals:

A mystery man makes a jaw-dropping donation while Gabisile rejects the advances of persistent Mthambisi.

The Friday 23 September reads:

Gabisile is intrigued by Mthambisi Phakathi.

Friday 30 September:

Gabisile's past comes back to bite her when she's forced to partner with a fling.

The show described Phakathi as a reputable businessman set to fall in love with Gabisile who has been having an on-and-off relationship with Nkunzi.

The character was meant to be played by late actor Mcendisi Shabangu, who was replaced by Gomora's Buyile Mdladla.

Uzalo shares more details about the character in a statement to Sowetan:

Mncedisi was going to play a role of a reputable businessman who amassed his wealth through crime. Phakathi always makes sure that his dark side is never revealed. He came into our world wanting nothing but revenge from the Magwaza family who took everything from him. He fell in love with Gabisile bringing friction in Nkunzi's world.
