At the 2026 NAB Show, Canon is doubling down on its commitment to live sports production with a mix of new glass and workflow-enhancing updates.
In this booth tour, Senior National Sales Manager Jamon Lomax highlights the debut of the 40-1200mm CINE-SERVO lens-the longest in the lineup-designed to deliver greater flexibility on both the wide and telephoto ends while maintaining the same footprint as its predecessor. Senior Specialist, Technical Josh Stoner adds that the lens brings improved zoom speed and expanded framing options, giving sports producers more dynamic camera placement and storytelling flexibility, especially as shallow depth-of-field continues to shape live coverage.
Beyond the lens, Senior Technical Specialist Paul McAniff details key firmware updates across the Cinema EOS lineup, including new USB camera control for smoother gimbal operation and ramp compensation technology that corrects exposure shifts during zooms. Together, these enhancements-paired with seamless integration into broadcast workflows-underscore Canon's focus on making cinematic tools more practical for live production. The result is a more versatile toolkit for sports creators looking to elevate visual storytelling without sacrificing reliability on game day.
