Avid Enables Abbey Road Studios to Make Gigantic Leap in Sound Quality and Speed with Studio-wide Pro Tools|HDX and HD I/O Upgrade

Avid and Abbey Road Studios, one of the most renowned recording studios in the world, today announced a studio-wide upgrade of Avid's flagship music and audio post production workstation to Pro Tools|HDX. While the studios, which are behind hits from today's hottest artists including Adele and Florence + The Machine as well as the scores of blockbuster movies such as Skyfall and The Hobbit, have relied on Pro Tools|HD for years, the upgrade to the more powerful HDX cards and better-sounding HD Series audio interfaces will enable faster performance and unmatched sound quality.
The accomplished artists and producers that use our facilities expect sonic excellence and the very best tools to work with their recordings. This means we need to use the most up-to-date, highly specified and intuitive recording systems available to us, said Simon Campbell, head of technical services at Abbey Road Studios. Upgrading to Avid Pro Tools|HDX has enabled our clients to run larger sessions at high sample rates with as much plug-in processing as required, while operating faster than ever.
Abbey Road is the most recent of a large group of facilities and private studios making the upgrade to HDX, and the new set-up will marry the timeless expertise of recording and mixing methods with the undeniable advantage that Pro Tools|HDX and HD Series I/O provides users.
