New 4DX cinema to open at Emperors Palace --

Nu Metro Cinemas will be expanding its revolutionary chain of multi-sensory cinemas, with the launch of South Africa s fifth 4DX cinema at Emperors Palace Hotel, Casino, Convention and Entertainment Resort at the beginning of June 2017.
4DX at Nu Metro Emperors Palace will feature an 84-seat cinema and will be opening to the public from Friday 9 June 2017. Entertainment at Emperors Palace will be taken to a whole new level as cinemagoers will no longer just watch movies, but can now significantly enhance their Nu Metro cinema outing with 4DX effects being added to target all senses (such as wind, motion, water spray, scent and lightning) in the state-of-the-art new cinema.
As one of our most popular cineplexes, Nu Metro at Emperors Palace is located within one of South Africa s most popular tourist destinations. 4DX will give local moviegoers, and visitors wanting to experience this very unique and exclusive cinema outing, an opportunity to view movies on a whole different level. These world-class cinemas add a new dimension to popular blockbusters, to establish a one-of-a-kind trip to the movies. 4DX transports the viewer to get as close to experiencing the action on-screen as you can get! explains Nu Metro Cinemas managing executive, Nitesh Matai.
Nu Metro s 4DX cinemas feature seats that move in sync with every single scene of action on-screen, driven by a sophisticated, computerised Servo motoring system in each seat (not hydraulics), allowing for realistic movement simulations from racing a crash-car to falling through the sky or drifting on the ocean. Cinemagoers can feel the wind in their hair, they can feel sprays of water or blasts of air hitting them from specialised effect systems installed in front of them, and they can smell the scent of the scenes on-screen - from flowers to burning rubber, the ocean or a fire - and be moved around in their seat to become a part of the movie itself.
Nu Metro is so far the only cinema chain locally to screen in 4DX with movies like, Beauty and the Beast, Fast & Furious 8, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and currently Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar s Revenge being brought to life using this format.
Future blockbusters lined up for 4DX include Wonder Woman and The Mummy.
This new feature allows filmmakers work in close conjunction with the 4DX team of innovators to encode effects that not only makes for an exciting, visceral movie joyride, but which also represents the creative vision of the film s director and producers.
The 3D visuals on-screen, along with Dolby 7.1 surround sound, are enhanced to the maximum with effects targeted to submerge the viewer in a fully immersive sensory experience.
The films screened in 4DX are projected in HD/2D and Digital 3D on a silver curved wall-to-wall screen. Its audio system is the upgraded Dolby CP750 with 7.1 full surround sound. The Barco projector used in the cinema also uses an enhanced lamp for brighter picture in both 2D and 3D.
Nu Metro is the first and only cinema group to premier the revolutionary 4DX cinema format in Africa. With 4DX still exclusive to Nu Metro Cinemas only in South Africa. Driven by overwhelming public demand, this new 4DX cinema at Emperors Palace is the second such cinema for Johannesburg, the third for Gauteng and the fifth 4DX cinema in South Africa. South Africa has one of the highest densities of 4DX cinemas in the world, and Nu Metro is also pleased to offer moviegoers the cheapest 4DX tickets in the world.
The new 4DX cinema for the east of Johannesburg follows on the runaway success of 4DX at Nu Metro V&A Waterfront (Cape Town), The Pavilion (Durban), Hyde Park (Johannesburg) and most recently, Menlyn Park (Pretoria).
