e.tv s OpenView HD and the Department of Communications boost learning in local schools --

OpenView HD, a free digital satellite platform powered by e.tv, in collaboration with the South African Department of Communications will be providing big screen television sets and OpenView HD decoders to schools around the country, beginning in the Eastern Cape on 17 and 18 July 2014.
Maxwell Nonge, Managing Director of Platco Digital, a division of Sadibo Investments and e.tv s sister company, says, We are excited to be adding some enthusiasm to the way children learn, by providing them with access to top quality educational channels on OpenView HD. Eastern Cape produced one of the foremost leaders of our time, Nelson Mandela; we are privileged to be actively involved in producing the next generation of excellence.
J.S Skenjana Senior Secondary School in Idutywa, Milton Mbekela High School in Qunu and the Mandela School of Technology in Mvezo will be part of the ten schools selected to take part in the initiative.
In commemoration of International Mandela Day on the 18 July, Mandla Mandela and Stella Ndabeni- Abrahams, the Deputy Minister of Communications, will unveil a Mandela statue in Mvezo while Khabonina Qubeka, a presenter for Gym eKasi on OpenView HD channel eKasi , will be performing at the event.
OpenView HD has a selection of educational channels which will benefit the schools including: Mindset TV (channels 201), Da Vinci Learning (channel 202) and eToonz (channel 200); which offer innovative, varied, quality learning shows.
OpenView HD will be targeting schools in Limpopo province Following the Eastern Cape drive, as part of their initiative to elevate the country s teaching and learning environments.
