Autocue extends QBox functionality with version 5

IBC 2014, Stand 11.F45 Autocue, the world's leading teleprompting company, is launching QBox v5, which delivers a five times faster boot time, 60 times the storage, ten times faster rundown transfer, twice as many controller connections, a wider choice of video outputs and genlock capability.

The next generation QBox is a 19 1u rack unit with an internal power supply and a much wider choice of video outputs including HD-SDI, composite, component, S-Video, and HDMI, plus the ability to genlock the signal. The number of USB controller connections has also increased from three to six, and the number of serial controller connections has increased from one to two, further reducing the need for additional hardware components.

The hardware specification of the new QBox has been updated across the board, with increased processing power, greater RAM, a much bigger SSD drive and Gigabit connectivity. The resultant performance is a boot time that is five times faster, 60 times more storage and 10 times the transfer speed for loading scripts on to the QBox.

The QBox is a Linux-based hardware device that connects to Autocue's QMaster prompting software over IP. The QBox generates the video image of the script for the teleprompter. The QMaster application can connect to any QBox, or several QBoxes at once, in any location, giving the user complete flexibility of control across multiple studios and multiple locations. The latest rundown is continually transmitted and saved to the QBox's internal memory if the prompting PC or newsroom system fails, the QBox will continue scrolling the latest rundown, independently.

The QBox was launched in 2006 and was a finalist in the IABM Peter Wayne awards. The new QBox is being launched at IBC and will be shipping from October.
