On Korea, Cold, and a Big Adventure: WRAL's Team Readies Reports from Winter Olympics

WRAL-TV Anchors David Crabtree and Kathryn Brown, along with WRAL Photojournalists Richard Adkins and Jamie Munden, are in South Korea, gearing up for the start of the 2018 Winter Olympics. These WRAL staffers have already started posting blog entries and sending stories back for WRAL viewers.

The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics kick off with competition on Thursday, Feb. 8, with the Opening Ceremonies slated for Friday, Feb. 9. Brown and Crabtree will be there covering the excitement with live reports during the WRAL newscasts for the duration of the 2 week competition. The closing ceremony takes place on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Of course, these are the Winter Games, and the IOC could not have selected a better place, wrote Crabtree after arriving in PyeongChang. While we havent seen much of South Korea yet, what we have seen in stunning.

Brown described their journey to South Korea which included a 28-hours of flights and plane changes and then 3-hour drive from the airport to their lodging and headquarters in Gangneung Province.

Our media village is a collection of high rise towers, filled with people from around the world, she wrote. You get into an elevator, or sit at a lunch table, or walk down a hall, and you are likely to hear at least five different languages. It is fascinating and invigorating!
