Rohde & Schwarz and Vantage Towers Sign MoU to Drive Commercialization of 5G Broadcast in Europe

Munich, Germany, October 28, 2024 - Rohde & Schwarz, a global leader in broadcast transmission, and Vantage Towers, a leading tower company in Europe with more than 86,000 sites, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the commercialization of 5G Broadcast (5GB) technology across Europe. This agreement aims to support the deployment of 5G Broadcast during its commercial roll out from 2026 and onwards.

The MoU outlines a collaborative framework between Rohde & Schwarz and Vantage Towers to jointly develop the business and market readiness for 5G Broadcast. Since the commercial deployment of the technology targets multiple applications like Live and Linear Content, Automotive beyond entertainment, Venue Casting and Public Warning Services, having an uninterrupted coverage with an optimal quality of service for consumers is imperative. Hence, the two companies will work together to create an innovative go-to-market model that leverages Vantage Towers extensive asset base and neutral host expertise, combined with the comprehensive portfolio of network solutions, services, and close relationships that Rohde & Schwarz holds with Broadcast Network Operators worldwide.
