Imagine Communications Leverages MACOM's 12G-SDI Chipset for its New Platinum VX 12Gb/s UHD 4K Routing Platform

MACOM's cable driver, equalizer and reclocker enable Imagine's new 4K routers

Lowell, MA, April 14, 2015 M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. ( MACOM ), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for broadcast video infrastructure, announced today that Imagine Communications, a global leader in video infrastructure, advertising systems and workflow management solutions serving the media networks, broadcast stations, on-line and communication service provider and enterprise markets, has chosen MACOM's M23554 Adaptive Equalizer, M23145 Reclocker and M23428 Cable Driver for the 12G-SDI interconnects of its Platinum VX, 12Gb/s UHD 4K Routing Platform.

UHD is attracting the attention of the broadcast market, and the bandwidth requirements needed to support this are much larger than what was required for HD, said Steve Reynolds, CTO, Imagine Communications. By leveraging MACOM's 12G-SDI technology, we can support routing full uncompressed 4k60 video utilizing a single link, rather than using four 3G-SDI links. This enables a more compact, lower power and lower cost routing solution for UHD 4k content.

By utilizing our industry leading 12G-SDI chipset, broadcasters can scale their solutions to support UHD by efficiently using existing cable infrastructure.
