TO BE FEATURED AT EXPANDED SCTE CENTRAL' AT SCTE CABLE-TEC EXPO

Gateway exhibit to focus attention on key issues facing the industry

OCT. 15, 2013 (Exton, PA) In a significant expansion of the role of its "SCTE Central" exhibit, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) will showcase interactive exhibits that are designed to drive innovative thinking, new services and business continuity at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo next week in Atlanta.

During the Oct. 21-24 event, SCTE will leverage SCTE Central's gateway position to focus attention on key operator needs via demonstrations that will enable first-hand experiences with disaster recovery solutions, new technology tools and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiatives, as well as information about SCTE's Standards and Professional Development programs and the SCTE Foundation.

Exhibits will include:

Disaster recovery mobile units from Alpha Technologies, Cox and Time Warner Cable, as well as other devices and technologies that are being used by operators and vendors to restore networks impacted by natural disasters and emergencies;

A Comcast exhibit of technology tools for IPv6, network monitoring and other needs, empowering operators to anticipate and address impending issues; and

A FIRST Robotics Competition "Robot Arena," where attendees can experience the "Varsity Sport for the Mind."

"Strategically positioned at the entrance to the show floor, SCTE Central has the potential literally to be a portal to key themes for SCTE Cable-Tec Expo," said Bill Schankel, senior director, marketing for SCTE. "By consolidating these exhibits in a highly visible space, we can increase awareness of important issues facing the industry and the resources that are available to address them."

SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2013 is set for next Monday through Thursday, Oct. 21-24. Two pre-conference symposia, one called "DOCSIS 3.1 Engineering" and another entitled "Creating the Cable Generalist," will be held next Monday, Oct. 21. The Oct. 22 Opening General Session will include a keynote conversation between NCTA President & CEO Michael Powell and Kevin Hart, executive vice president and CTO of Cox Communications and chairman of the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo Program Committee, as well as two thought-leadership panels. Pat Esser, president of Cox Communications, will moderate a C-Suite panel featuring Dave Watson, executive vice president and CEO of Comcast, and Bob Stanzione, chairman and CEO of ARRIS; and John Schanz, chief network officer and executive vice president of Comcast, will moderate a network operations panel featuring: Yvette Kanouff, executive vice president, corporate engineering and technology, Cablevision Systems Corporation; Guy McCormick, vice president, engineering, Cox Communications; Matthew Stanek, senior vice president of core, regional, metro and network operations, Time Warner Cable; and Marwan Fawaz, partner with Sarepta Advisors.

SCTE Cable-Tec Expo is the leading venue for helping the cable telecommunications industry and its workforce to reduce costs, deploy new services and increase customer satisfaction.
