Pere Vila: "there is no turning back, we will end up all on broadband and connected to the new platforms" Recientemente nombrado responsable de la nueva Direcci n de Tecnolog a, Innovaci n y Sistemas de RTVE, Pere Vila, ha analizado en su ponencia durante la primera jornada de Broadcast it!, el reto al que se enfrenta la televisi n p blica ante los servicios OTT, la televisi n conectada,
Este cambio es algo que llevamos tiempo esperando y que ten amos pendiente en la corporaci n p blica , ha comenzado su ponencia t cnica Pere Vila en la primera jornada de Broadcast it Experience. En RTVE llevamos a os trabajando en aplicaciones OTT, tanto en el uso de como broadcasting y broadband para temas de accesibilidad y en la distribuci n de m s contenidos en los servicios informativos, con +24 .
Para este responsable de la TV p blica espa ola, adem s del reto de la gesti n del espectro radioel ctrico y del modelo OTT, competimos ahora con terceras empresas que ofrecen contenidos en TV, y donde no est definido como se accede y a qu operador; si se van a ofrecer mensajes comerciales, ya que RTVE no tiene publicidad; si el usuario conectado pasa a ser nuestro cliente y no de un operador intermedio, .
En este sentido, Vila asegura que el modelo OTT es una fuente de oportunidades, no solo de contenidos, sino de desarrollo de nuevas aplicaciones y sistemas para ofrecer y tener una relaci n directa con nuestro usuario .
Para ello, RTVE ha establecido cuatro l neas de trabajo: participar activamente en el desarrollo de estos nuevos entornos; conocer las posibilidades que ofrece (test, pruebas, ); situar nuestros contenidos en las nuevas plataformas (aunque inicialmente no sea rentable), y desarrollar nuevos productos audiovisuales, tales como el boton rojo , especifica este directivo.
Esta participaci n activa de la corporaci n se refleja en su colaboraci n con otras TV p blicas europeas a trav s del foro EBU, tanto en el comit t cnico como en la presidencia del grupo estrat gico TV Platforms&Services, ante lo cual Vila anim a los asistentes a las jornadas a que participaran tambi n en este campo de trabajo tan importante, tanto en distribuci n como en publicaci n .
A ello se a ade su colaboraci n en el organismo DVB para la definici n de est ndares, as como en el comit t cnico de DigiTAG. A nivel nacional, Vila resalt la participaci n de la corporaci n en el foro t cnico de la TV digital, tanto en el grupo de receptores, como en el subgrupo para la especificaci n de receptores de TV digital para aplicaciones interactivas.
New technologies and collaboration with the industry
Pere Vila subray que en este proceso, la corporaci n ha tra do equipos tecnol gicos de ltima generaci n para probarlos, realizar pruebas y test, en colaboraci n con fabricantes de tablets, TV y empresas como Dolby, Sapec, etc. .
Con menos intensidad de la deseada, Vila destac la inversi n en I+D con la puesta en marcha de proyectos Dash aplicado a HbbTV, y tambi n de streaming con la empresa dualStream, que nos gustar a presentar el pr ximo verano y avanzar en contenidos y en los servicios informativos .
Recalcando la actividad realizada, Vila explico que hemos situado nuestros contenidos en las nuevas plataformas (PC, tablet, m vil, ) y medios interactivos; con una l nea de trabajo en tablet y TV conectada, donde contamos con hasta 60.000 hogares conectados, no s lo por el bot n rojo .
An evolution without return
Claro y contundente ante este proceso, Pere Vila asegur a la audiencia de Broadcast it! Experiencie que no hay vuelta atr s: terminaremos todos en broadband y conectados en las nuevas plataformas , y aport datos concretos: de 617.000 hogares conectados regularmente hemos pasado con el bot n rojo' a mas de 1,5 millones .
Para el directivo de RTVE, el bot n rojo' es el final de un proceso que ha durado bastantes a os, participando en participado en Hbb TV. Creo que podemos tener dos botones: uno para el fabricante y otro de acceso en el que ser a muy positivo contar con el empuje y el apoyo de otras cadenas de TV, auton micas, locales, para que todos tengamos m s oportunidades .
