Scrub supplies Avid S6 consoles for Smoke and amp; Mirrors new Audio Department

Scrub, a division of HHB specialising in post production, has supplied three Avids S6 control surfaces and the latest Pro Tools systems for Smoke & Mirrors new London audio department.

With offices in London, New York, Shanghai and Sao Paolo, Smoke & Mirrors is a world renowned visual effects and full service post production company specialising in advertising, film and music. Its award-winning work ranges from global campaigns for many of the worlds leading advertisers to music videos for international pop stars like Lana Del Ray and Sam Smith.

The Avid S6 is the perfect solution for Smoke & Mirrors new Soho facilities because it enables the engineers to choose the modules they need and custom configure the console layout to meet the requirements of each new studio. From the 16-fader S6 M10 console in Studio 1 to two compact 8-fader M10s in Studios 2 and 3, S6 is an extremely flexible system that compliments their short form advertising and broadcast work.

Scrub worked alongside Smoke & Mirrors Head of Audio Scott Little to specify the equipment for each room. The new consoles and Pro Tools HDX and version 11 software was installed and custom configured onsite by Scrubs Technical Service Engineers. The new rooms have been fully booked since the launch, and the audio department is set for further expansion in the very near future.

Scott Little explains: Its clear Avid has considered the audio post market with the S6 console, as there are so many intuitive features geared towards this workflow. Assignable soft keys, the enhanced transport section and jog wheel, and of course the MTM multi-point touch screen, which allows you to navigate the entire project and console, having instant access to channels, sends, plug-ins, and just about anything at your fingertips, helps us work with greater efficiency and precision, which is key when turning around a large volume of high-end work under tight time constraints.
