MARDEN, Kent (January 21, 2013) - The Pixel Farm Ltd, a leading developer of innovative image processing systems for VFX, DI and restoration, today announced the immediate availability of PFClean 2013.
As a result of user feedback and extensive validation, we have extended PFClean's toolset to support the restoration and remastering of content stored in video libraries. Archives, broadcasters and facilities, with libraries consisting of many thousands of hours of footage shot on, or stored on videotape are seeking specific workflows to process YUV and field-based sources, and tools to address specific issues relating to tape degradation and signal processing errors.
Video Processing Pipeline PFClean 2013 introduces a complete overhaul of the processing pipeline and engine with support for YUV and interlaced media in addition to the existing resolution-independent RGB progressive pipeline that our customers have grown to trust and rely on. This new release provides end-to-end support for video-originated footage in YUV or RGB colourspace, and a suite of new effects to automatically detect and fix common videotape defects including Scanline Synchronisation, Chroma Crosstalk, Signal Dropout, Scanline Flicker and Banding. Full support for interlaced footage unleashes the possibility to use PFClean's renowned toolset on a field-by field basis, and correct issues such as inverted field dominance and 3:2 pulldown. In addition, several existing effects have been updated to support processing in YUV colour space.
Workflow Manager PFClean's unique Workflow Manager interface allows drag-and-drop management of every aspect of the restoration cycle from import to deliverables within a single graphical overview. This powerful utility is more streamlined than ever in PFClean 2013, offering more powerful functionality including user-defined layouts, with user-defined zooms and selection filtering, integrated automations to enhance productivity, and support for fast, efficient template-based workflows. Managing large projects with vast numbers of clips has never been easier, or faster.
Further improvements and Enhancements File I/O Plugin architecture - An open API to allow support for file formats to be developed by customers on current support release and The Pixel Farm development team. This will provide more flexibility for customer testing and faster implementation of new file formats as they evolve.

2012 Software Maintenance continues to deliver... Under our new Software Upgrade Subscription Programme, the PFClean 2012 development focus now switches from features to the maintenance stream, which will continue to benefit existing 2012 users. Customers not yet wishing to make the switch to the PFClean 2013 feature release will continue to benefit from maintenance releases of the 2012 version through December 31, 2013. They may continue to submit bug reports, and those bugs will be addressed in subsequent 2012 maintenance releases throughout the course of the year, commencing with the forthcoming 2012.4.3 maintenance release, which will be available shortly after the 2013 versions ship. The 2012 maintenance stream is only available to customers who had upgraded to the 2012 feature release in the 2012 calendar year, and is available free of charge under the 2012 subscription fee.

PFPrep end of life announcement Since the pricing changes and easier affordability of PFClean announced in 2012, the overwhelming majority of our customers are now opting for the full feature set of PFClean. With the resulting decline in demand for an entry level restoration solution we have decided to retire PFPrep, effective Feb 1, 2013. PFPrep customers will continue to benefit from 2012 maintenance, with the ability to report bugs and access to bug fix releases until 31 Dec 2013, at which point PFPrep will no longer be supported. Customers wishing to switch to the full PFClean may take advantage of the PPrep to PFClean upgrade option. For further details contact The Pixel Farm sales team here.
