Mariner Releases Persona 1.0 for Windows The popular Mac app dedicated to developing the characters of a story now has a Windows version. Built around the psychological profile of 32 archetypes, Persona for Windows reveals a character's behavior, motivation, and potential dialogue.

Minneapolis, MN Mariner Software, developers of award-winning Mac and Windows software products, has released Persona 1.0 for Windowsa character development application. Like the Mac version, Persona for Windows is based on this concept: By categorizing characters into archetypes, their backgrounds and psychological profiles can be established. Having this information at the writer's disposal, a given character's motivation becomes apparent, and then behavior and dialogue become predictable. Persona assists the writer who wants to purposely develop compelling, believable, and empathic characters for a story.

Being able to offer a Windows version of our Mac apps is important to us, said Michael Wray, president of Mariner. Persona is an asset to every writer, whether they use a Mac or PC, and we're excited about adding this new app to our Windows line of products.

Persona for Windows contains the profiles for 32 archetypes. Accompanying these profiles is a detailed description of the archetypes' background, behavior, qualities, flaws, and occupations. In addition, there are explanations of how these archetypes interact with each other and insight into what happens to the hero or heroine when either one becomes corrupt, turning into a villain or villainess.

Other features of Persona 1.0 for Windows will enable the writer to:

Explore interactions between characters

Create Smart Groups of characters based on attributes such as tags, body type, sex, ethnicity, and more

Construct ad hoc groups of characters in order to examine their interactions

Add a character and shape the details, from eye color to hobbies or occupations

Use the Names database, containing over 16,000 names, which features a name's origin and meaning

Persona 1.0 for Windows is available for sale and for trial, as a download from the Mariner Software website and will sell for $49.95USD. A boxed copy for sale and for retail will be available in the near future. Persona 1.0 for Windows requires Windows Vista, 7, or Windows 8. This initial version of Persona is in English only; other languages will be added at a later date.
