Capitol Broadcasting and WRAL-TV proudly help raise $265,400 for the four Triangle arts councils through the second annual Big Night In for the Arts. The one-hour program which aired on WRAL on Thursday, March 10, 2022, featured performances artists from North Carolina, a super-star lineup.
From poets and dancers to potters and musicians WRAL's Big Night In for the Arts showcased why the local arts are so important and make our communities so great, said WRAL-TV Local Production Manager Don Ursich. The show was not only entertaining and informative, but it helped raise over $265k to support local arts. It was a BIG success.
The evening benefited the United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County, Chatham Arts Council, Durham Arts Council and Orange County Arts Commission.
The second annual Big Night In for the Arts featured a superstar line-up folk music band Hiss Golden Messenger, musician Ben Folds, Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon, tap dancer Jabu Graybeal, poet Jaki Shelton Green, and potter Mark Hewitt.
I'm extremely proud of the work our WRAL team (Local Production, Engineering, WRAL-TV News Production Manager James Ford, WRAL-TV News Producer Stephanie Beck, WRAL-TV Photographer 2 Richard Adkins and more) put in to pull off this one-of-a-kind event, said Urisch.
