SVG's Remote Production Forum headed to the new PGA TOUR Studios in Ponte Vedra, FL, for an in-depth look at the new state-of-the-art facility. After behind-the-scenes tours and a welcoming reception on Oct. 14 at the tour's facility, the more than 250 conference attendees spent the next day at TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in sessions on how remote workflows, cloud infrastructure, IP transport, and data-driven storytelling are reshaping the way live coverage of sports events is produced.

Among the highlights of the tour was a 270-degree LED display in Studio 1A

Opened in January 2025, PGA TOUR Studios houses all the organization's media operations, including live production of PGA TOUR Champions, Korn Ferry Tour, more than 5,000 hours of PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN , and its expansive roster of more than 50 original shows for social- and digital-media platforms. The facility also produces a world feed exclusively for international media partners with customized graphics and unilateral cameras.

Golf production is some of the most complex sports production, PGA TOUR, SVP, Media, Luis Goicouria said during the event. It's very complicated and difficult to do, and for us to be able to go to [new potential media partners] and say, you don't have to produce it. We can do that. We produce more hours of golf than anybody in the world.' That is the vision behind this. It's very strategic. A lot of it has to do with media negotiations, which is where a huge amount of our revenue comes from. This give us the most flexibility and control over our product.

The 165,000-sq.-ft. building is equipped with eight production-control rooms, eight audio-control rooms, and seven LED-outfitted studios, including a 270-degree LED display in Studio 1A. The studios are capable of monitoring and displaying thousands of video and audio feeds, all capturing action from 144 cameras or live feeds.

PGA TOUR Studios also houses the world's largest library of golf content (223,000 hours) and a slew of high-end editing and postproduction facilities for creating original content.

Attendees visited the facility's custom-built video-review center, which comprises a 34-seat theater to screen all the latest content projects and studio-specific booths for podcasts and, coming next year, PGA TOUR Radio on SiriusXM.

The three-level PGA TOUR Studios sits adjacent to the organization's 187,000-sq.-ft. headquarters, which opened in 2021, and replaces the previous PGA TOUR Entertainment facility in St. Augustine, which had housed production efforts since November 1997. The facility was designed through a collaboration between Foster Partners (which also designed PGA TOUR HQ) and architect HLW International; systems integration was provided by NEP Group.

Also on hand were PGA TOUR's nine state-of-the-art production trucks, built by NEP Group, which provide a consistent and stable production hub for PGA TOUR broadcast partners CBS/Paramount , NBC/Golf Channel/Peacock, and ESPN throughout the season. The fleet serves as production hub for seven live shows: the network broadcast, four PGA TOUR Live streams on ESPN , SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, and two live streams for IMG Arena, the tour's official scoring-data distributor for betting operators.

NEP's PGA TOUR mobile units were also on hand at PGA Tour Studios during the event.

A Day of Sessions at TPC SawgrassOn Oct. 15, after opening remarks from Title Sponsor BitFire, the first panel of the day examined how key production roles - technical directors, replay operators, graphics teams, commentators - are performed remotely and how the tech stack is evolving to support it. Speakers from NBC Sports Group, At Home Productions, Grass Valley, LiveU, and LTN discussed how fully remote workflows impact the way events are produced, as well as the approach's long-term viability.

CBS Sports SVP, Engineering, Greg Coppa and VP, Remote Engineering, Craig Stevens and Sony Electronics Senior Product Manager/Business Manager, Professional Imaging Group, Martin Lindsay explained how they are leveraging 5G to deliver lightning-fast, immersive coverage at major golf tournaments.

NEP and PGA TOUR leaders discussed the trucks that the TOUR relies on week in and week out, including their workflows and the colossal Every Shot Live production.

The SVG Remote Production Summit took over the TPC Sawgrass on Wednesday.

Next up was a panel on how the merger of video, audio, and data is redefining remote production. PGA TOUR events exemplify the evolution in production as, more than ever, data drives graphics and other elements that enhance the storytelling and give fans greater insight. Panelists from Warner Bros. Discovery (TNT Sports), Chyron, Lumen, Mobii, and Tata Comms Media previewed a future when data is as important as pixels.

Before lunch, a case study highlighted how the PGA TOUR and its partners deploy the Appear X platform across IP Networks, ASI, and satellite mediums for remote production of the Champions Tour and contribution-delivery workflows to domestic and international partners for all PGA TOUR events.
