Technicolor Celebrates Oscar Nominations and Industry Accolades

With the announcement of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences 86th annual nominations, Technicolor extends a hearty congratulations to our clients who received nominations, as well as MPC's VFX supervisor Gary Brozenich and his team that worked on Disney's The Lone Ranger, recipient of one of the Academy's nominations for visual effects. In all, Technicolor served 16 projects cited by the Academy.

Director Alfonso Cuaron, and Warner Bros shared top honors for Gravity, recipient of 10 nominations, tied for the most nominations of last's year's highly competitive class. Technicolor worked with Mr. Cuaron throughout principal photography under the direction of nominated cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, AMC, ASC. The film was finished at Technicolor with senior supervising digital colorist Steve Scott working closely with the filmmakers.

Further, Technicolor's clients received four of the five nominated films in the prestigious Achievement in Cinematography category, including Gravity, Inside Llewyn Davis and Nebraska. Technicolor worked closely with these productions, from principal photography through finishing.

Among other important year-end awards, the American Society of Cinematographers cited seven theatrical features for their Best Feature Cinematography with Technicolor having served five of the seven cited films.

And it is with great pride that we celebrate Technicolor's Joshua Pines and David Register, who are part of the team which will receive a Scientific and Technical Achievement Academy Award for their contributions to the American Society of Cinematographer's ASC CDL - Color Decision List. Further, this year the Academy has decided to give a special Academy Oscar statue honoring all those who've worked in and contributed to the motion picture film laboratories for the last 100 years.

Rounding up an exciting award season, Technicolor Sound received many talent nominations. Our broadcast team based at Paramount Studios received a Cinema Audio Society nomination for their finish-mixing work on American Horror Story: Coven - The Replacements. Technicolor's Joe Earle, Doug Andham, and Judah Getz led the company's efforts on behalf of the award-winning series. And from the Canadian Screen Awards, Montreal-based mixer Stephane Bergeron is nominated for his work on the feature Amsterdam while two teams from Toronto are nominated in the Best Sound in a Dramatic Program or Series. For Flashpoint - Broken Peace the team of Re-recording Mixer Al deGraff, Re-recording Mixer Mike Woroniuk, and ADR Recordist Richard Calistan.

And for World Without End - King , ADR Recordist Dave Fritz and Re-recording mixer Steve Foster.
