TV Graphics Integration with NewTek NDI Streamlines Graphics for Sports Broadcasters

TV Graphics is wrapping up its first season providing fully integrated IP solutions using NewTek's Network Device Interface (NDI) technology, in addition to standard HD/SDI workflows as part of its Graphics All-in-One solution. Primary users of the All-in-One, including FOXSports, PrepZone, Pac-12 Network, MLB.com and the Big East Digital Network, were able to deliver more than 200 streaming broadcasts.

What makes the All-In-One Box great for our use is that it is tailor-made to our needs, says Kevin Brellenthin, Senior Coordinating Producer for the Big East Digital Network. They do a great job of supplying our graphical needs on the various productions that we broadcast. The Graphics All-in-One is changing the way that productions are able to maximize their graphics quality while minimizing budget costs. In addition to clock and score, lower third and title card functions that a traditional score bug offers, the the robust portable system powers also offers traditional 2nd CG options full screens, player lower thirds, slabs, sponsor animations, bumps, custom images, interstitials and more essentially a full production show out of one machine. Add to the fact that it's all produced out a laptop system with a small output module, the portability allows graphics operators or producers to pre-produce shows at their leisure, and not be tied to a production facility or set day.

NewTek's open Network Device Interface (NDI) is the standard for IP-based production workflows for TV Graphics broadcast and streaming clients. With NDI enabled, TV Graphics traditional clock and score and the Graphics All-in-One are recognizable as a source by other NDI-enabled devices and systems connected to a standard Ethernet local area network, exponentially increasing the number of video sources available for live production. This new standard for live production IP workflow is bi-directional and backwards compatible with a large number of devices from manufacturers already utilizing NewTek's open protocol allowing IP connectivity between devices. Customers will be part of the NewTek Developer Network, the industry's largest ecosystem of IP-enabled products using the same standard.
