Marquis to Launch Medway Edit Support for 4K at IBC 06

26 July 2016: Marquis Broadcast, experts in content workflows and media integration software, specialise in moving media and metadata. The Company has announced it will demonstrate the 4K capability of its workflow interoperability solution, Medway, at IBC 2016 for this first time on booth 7.G05.

Medway is our highly flexible media and metadata workflow automation solution which integrates more than 30 best-of-breed broadcast systems, confirms Chris Steele, managing director, Marquis Broadcast. At IBC this year we will be showing Medway's support for resolutions beyond HD which is an exciting development.

Using 4K could require eight times more edit storage space than HD and so off-line work has become necessary, explains Steele. Medway generates a HD mezzanine' format of the required content for editing, then when the editor is ready to switch to 4K, Medway trims the 4K files to only the used frames with handles and delivers to the edit storage. This is a practical and real solution which saves space and therefore reduces the need to invest in additional edit storage.

Complex workflows combined with a wide variety of formats can result in time consuming and repetitive operations, continues Steele. Medway provides transfer and format conversion workflows for video, audio, data and metadata, allowing for the exchange of media and metadata between broadcast systems in a fast, transparent and cost effective way, enabling its users to operate complete file based workflows in mixed format environments.
