1,400m2 4K Studio in Communication University of China Constructed by Sony Passing Acceptance
The acceptance meeting for the construction project of 4K studio center system covering 1,400m2 in Communication University of China was held on October 18, 2016. Attending experts came from institutions, including State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, CCTV, BTV, PTV, National Center for the Performance Arts, Communication University of China, etc. All the experts carefully reviewed such an important project constructed by Sony and agreed to accept the project, that is to say, Communication University of China officially started to use Asia's First 4K Studio in university from then on.
The 4K Studio of Communication University of China constructed by Sony is located in Building B of No. 2 Teaching Building close to the west gate of the university. Together with the program director room and ancillary facilities, the studio almost occupies most part of this building. Upon signatures of both parties in December 2015, the teams of both parties have jointly completed such an unprecedented large-scale project within the construction period less than one year including winter and summer vacations.
The system integration is performed on the 1,400m2 Studio on the basis of eight 4K channels and two HD channels; the studio comprises a 6-channel 4K Studio camcorder HDC-4300 and a 2-channel 4K camcorder n PMW-F55 and has the making capacity for high dynamic range (HDR) and wide color gamut (WCG); 2-channel high-definition studio camcorder HDC-2580 utilizes the 2-channel 4K up-converting function built in a switching platform to make the whole system achieve the making capacity for ten 4K channels; multi-format high-definition switcher MVS-7000X can realize two programming modes of 4K and HD; two multi-channel multi-format audio-video servers PWS-4400 are configured; each server is equipped with 4TB storage space; XAVC file format is adopted for recording 4K 50P at the code rate of 500Mbps; each server can record program for about 16 hours; a 45T storage space Optical Disc Archive is configured for recording near-line storage of 4K material; two 30 OLED master control 4K monitors BVM-X300 are used for monitoring the high dynamic range HDR programming and subjectively assessing image quality, one monitor is located on a television wall and is used for monitoring HDR edition PGM and the other monitor is used for monitoring the signal quality by the technical director.
Sony is responsible for the turnkey project of the 4K Studio and supplies all the core equipment. While the project team for the 4K Studio of Communication University of China is working hard herein, the engineers of Sony China Professional Solutions Group are also striving for efficiently, accurately and perfectly meeting the customer requirement, for creating the classic 4K large-scale studio system.
Acceptance Expert Group in the Program Director Room
While designing, Sony China Professional Solutions Group has considered the special requirements for teaching and scientific research and making the students apply what they have learned. For the purposes of insisting studying at present and practicing in future and making the students' study and practice in the school be helpful to their work after entering society, not only the classic equipment high in market share is required but also the advancing equipment meeting the industry development trend is required. Thus, the HDC-2580 HD camcorder, which is ultrahigh in usage rate in HD field and is specially used in numerous domestic and overseas sports events, multiple domestic large-scale broadcast vehicles, Sony MVS-7000 switching platform used in studio system, PVM series of OLED monitors, EVERTZ large-scale matrix, peripheral board cards, audio equipment, and so on are configured, and meanwhile, 4K system vidicon HDC-4300 and 4K system PMW-F55 which are advanced in the industry are also configured and the VSM intelligent control system used by domestic top-level TV is supplemented. The scheme configured for this purpose by Sony is the 4K system scheme advanced in the world at present. In the predictable following years, it is undoubted that the development direction of TV stations all over China will point to 4K.
