At the VLOG CON on 24 September, the director of Darth Maul: Apprentice, among others, reveals how this no budget production became a viral hit. The moving image continues to boom, on all channels: 400 hours of video material was uploaded every minute on average on YouTube. Germans spent 223 minutes each day in front of the television and watched 4.5 films on the big screen in the cinema (Source: Statistisches Bundesamt (Federal Statistical Office). Many consumers have long since become producers: easy access to high quality and nonetheless affordable cameras and editing programmes makes it easy for both amateurs and pros to record videos and present them attractively.

That this is even possible with the smartphone is shown by Pavel Kaplun on all days of the trade fair at his stand in hall 9: Photograph and film like a pro - with the smartphone is the name of the workshop that provides simple tips for also making good photos and videos with the smartphone. Pavel Kaplun is one of Germanys leading photo artists and is known for his complex, surreal compositions and his artistic travel photography. MOTION STAGE
The programme of the MOTION STAGE addresses both moving image specialists and photographers who currently want to rediscover the theme of video for themselves. The VLOG CON takes place on the MOTION STAGE on Saturday, 24 September - the possibilities to experience YouTube stars up close and to explore the secret to their success with them, like the creator of the German Star Wars fan film Darth Maul: Apprentice, which became a massive YouTube hit within the shortest time possible: more than 10 million views and an overwhelming media echo rolled over the young filmmaker. At the VLOG CON, director Shawn Bu looks behind the scenes of the film and illuminates the difficulties of a no budget production.
