THE CHANGING FACE OF BROADCAST TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT BVE 2015 08 December 2014

UK's essential broadcast and production event brings new technology, comprehensive free seminar programme and networking opportunities
BVE 2015 is gearing up once again to be the UK's only event for the broadcast and production industry from creation to consumption, encompassing TV, film, live events, theatre, social media and other broadcast media. BVE 2015 takes place from 24-26 February 2015 at ExCeL London and registration is now open.
Alison Willis, Event Director, said, When live theatrical events are being broadcast to cinemas in 4K, and the AV world is converging with traditional' broadcast, the very term broadcast' becomes something much wider than before. It's increasingly important to have an event where people from all areas can come together to discuss their experiences, share their knowledge and learn from each other, and our aim with BVE is to ask the right questions and bring in experts who can answer them. We thank our advisory board, which includes representatives from every area of the industry, for helping us to shape the show and ensure it is relevant, informative and inspiring in these exciting times for broadcasting.
BVE's free seminar programme is the envy of other broadcast events. The nine theatres will present over 120 hours of free sessions from the cream of British broadcast and film industry talent, covering all aspects of the industry from commissioning to distribution innovations, with a vast array of craft, technology and business sessions throughout each strand. Confirmed highlights to date include:
Dan Patton, VP Digital Media, UK, Australia and CEE, Viacom International Media
Adam Davis, Global Head of Crowd Simulation and Motion Capture, MPC, whose recent VFX credits include Guardians of the Galaxy, Harry Potter and Wrath of the Titans
Sue Quinn, award-winning Location Manager who has worked on Harry Potter, The Edge of Tomorrow, Love Actually
Nick Curwin, Chief Executive, The Garden Productions, which has provided fix camera rigs for 24 Hours in A&E, One Born Every Minute
Peter Robertson, one of the UK's leading Camera/Steadicam operators whose credits include Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Edge of Tomorrow, Anna Karenina
The Skills & Networking Zone enables all visitors to talk to experts sharing their knowledge and advice on career issues, business concerns and how to progress in the industry. Highlights include BECTU's CV clinic, the BBC Academy's hands-on workshops on file delivery, and Raindance Film Festival's scriptwriting master classes.
BVE 2015 will also address the looming skills shortage in production and engineering, with a dedicated afternoon for the Broadcasters of the Future' taking place on Thursday 26 February from midday. The tailored sessions across all the theatres will educate and advise students, recent graduates and young people starting out in the industry, highlighting the skills they need and how to get them. Confirmed sessions to date include the BBC Academy presenting File Service Delivery sessions; Bournemouth University showcasing their graduation show reel with its top students discussing the inspiration for and production of their individual pieces; and Ravensbourne facilitating a networking session with leading industry figures who can give real-world advice.
The comprehensive broadcast exhibition will once again be the chosen launch venue for many new technologies and products, while the dedicated production services area offers a vast array of knowledge, advice and services for production professionals. Over 95% of the exhibition space is already sold, with new exhibitors including Aerialworx, Atos CueScript Ltd, Prime Focus Technologies and Trickbox TV, and regular exhibitors including Blackmagic Design, Sony, Avid, Panasonic, Holdan, JVC, ARRI, Cirro Lite, Sennheiser and Roland.
BVE 2015 now represents the only comprehensive event in the UK for broadcast and production professionals, following the decision to close BVE North. Willis explains: BVE North was launched in 2011 in response to the move by the BBC and several other broadcast industry organisations to Salford. We wanted to provide a forum for all those who had relocated and it was very well received by visitors and exhibitors alike. Three years on, we know that more and more visitors from outside the M25 are attending the London event so we so we have decided to put all our efforts into the main show and make it appealing to all UK regions.
More details about BVE 2015 will be announced in the coming weeks.
