The Right Tools For the Job! DiGiCo Launches T & B Software Videos

T software is available on the flagship SD7, SD10 and SD9 consoles, making the same powerful functions that are used in the West End and on Broadway accessible to smaller and touring theatre productions.

The B software extension, meanwhile, can be applied to all SD consoles other than the SD8. This means that any broadcast project, from the biggest live sporting event to the smallest OB truck where the diminutive SD11 is increasingly finding favour, can benefit from DiGiCo's dedicated broadcast functionality.

General mixing functions between theatre, broadcast and live sound are similar, but there are some significant differences in how the console parameters are used. These operational differences mean that the console's processing needs to be tailored in a specific way.

With the T and B extensions, the FPGA core of the console is programmed on power up, letting the user decide whether the console should be a standard live console or a theatre or broadcast specific console.

DiGiCo has many dedicated theatre features incorporated in the Cast Management section of the console. These include:

Alias this a method of controlling channel settings, such as EQ, Aux sends or dynamics, on the desk from cue to cue and automatically update throughout the show.

Players tool this extremely handy function accounts for character changes and changes of cast and allows operators to select which actor is playing a particular role. The entire production is then automatically updated with all the correct settings, but without destroying the specific programming that's been made from cue to cue.

VCA membership or Control Groups - allows for faster and better programming by providing a graphical interface for programming VCAs.

Matrix nodal delays provides individually recallable delays on every single matrix node.

Monitor Matrix 48 x 6 matrix allows operators to monitor up to eight full 5.1 surround sources into three speaker sets.

Solo options - including Backstop PFL or overpress, Auto Solo and dual AFL PFL worksurface options.

Folding Channels for Multi Mono or Surround

Mix Minus includes the ability to create as many feeds as is needed.

DiGiCo's application specific extensions give you the dedicated feature set required for theatre, broadcast and live sound application.

The FPGA design ultimately allows the console to be instantly configured for the required job. This flexibility and multiple usage has never been available says DiGiCo managing director, James Gordon.
