INDUSTRY ALERT 0: Call for applications: Enterprise Asia heads to China with a focus on factual

Following its successful delegation in March 2013 to Asian Side of the Doc in Malaysia, Screen Australia will lead a delegation of producers, broadcasters and sales companies to China in November 2013.

Screen Australia's Enterprise Asia program is now open for applications from screen businesses with viable plans for building their company relationships and slate in China. In this round, the program will provide funding of up to $15,000 for screen businesses wishing to build on their engagement with China through activities such as the development of targeted co-productions, seeking co-financing from partners such as broadcasters in the region, or building working relationships with other screen companies. Up to 10 companies with suitable factual projects will be supported to travel to Beijing (13-14 November) and Chengdu (16-18 November).

We have seen some solid partnerships and potential projects come from the first Enterprise Asia delegation visit to Malaysia and we have high hopes for the next delegation going to China, said Chris Oliver, Senior Manager, State and Industry Partnerships. As China reaches out to international partners, Australian screen businesses are well placed to work with Chinese counterparts and affiliated broadcasters and producers. The benefits of being a part of a broader delegation are real and offer an intense and constructive opportunity for attendees.

With a focus on factual, the delegation will include a program of meetings, information sessions, events and business-to-business opportunities in Beijing, followed by participation in the Sichuan TV Festival (SCTVF) and additional activities in Chengdu. The funding will contribute to travel to both Beijing and Chengdu as well as limited development costs for projects to be presented to potential partners in the region.

Previous Enterprise Asia applicants and funding recipients may reapply to this round, and companies who would like to join the delegation but who cannot or do not wish to seek funding through this program can express interest in participating on a self-funded basis.

Screen Australia will be offering a live webinar information session for producers and others interested in applying for the Enterprise Asia Program on Monday 5 August 2013 at 1.00 pm (AEST).
