FIFA CONFEDERATIONS CUP 2013 HOST CITIES CONFIRMED - 08/11/2012 FIFA and the Local Organising Committee for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil confirmed the six host cities for next summers FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 today at Sao Paulos Museu do Futebol. As had been expected, the venues are Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. Brasilia will host one match while each of the other cities will host three.
The FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 will feature eight teams playing sixteen matches, beginning on 15 June in Brasilia and ending on 30 June with the Final in Rio de Janeiro. As at previous editions in 2005 (Germany) and 2009 (South Africa), HBS will be the host broadcaster of the competition and, while maintaining its usual world-class production standards, will use it as a proving ground for the following years FIFA World Cup. Venue, logistics and technical teams will be dispatched throughout the country according to their planned 2014 assignments in order to gain local know-how while HBS Production department will be able to test several planned innovations. Liaison teams will also be able to work hands-on with their FIFA and LOC counterparts in order for all sides to learn a bit more about each others operational methods. The International Broadcast Coordination Centre (IBCC) for the event will be based in Belo Horizonte and will serve as HBS headquarters during the event.
With four FIFA World Cup winners in the mix (title holders and European champions Spain, European runners-up Italy, South American champions Uruguay and hosts Brazil), this edition of the tournament promises to be one of the best ever and HBS looks forward to its kick-off in slightly over 200 days.
