Italian broadcast company MediaForEurope (MFE) has reportedly made a bid for Poland's TVN, currently owned by Warner Bros Discovery.

Reuters reports MFE has made a non-binding bid for the company. The report suggests Polish businessman Michal Solowow and media group WP Holding are also interested in acquiring the broadcaster.

Late last year, Poland's President Donald Tusk announced plans to block the sale of broadcasters Polsat and TVN to what he described as hostile states.

Warner Bros Discovery is believed to be working with advisers at JPMorgan on the sale, which includes news channels TVN24 and TVN24BiS. According to Reuters, the deal could cost up to 1 billion.

MFE is keen to expand its European footprint. In December, the media group, which is owned by the family of the late former Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, reportedly arranged 3.4 billion in financing to boost the pace of its plans.

At the time, MFE was said to be evaluating the purchase of assets in Portugal, the Netherlands and Poland. MFE has also been building up its stake in German broadcaster ProSieben.
