BBC Studioworks to make significant investment' into Elstree Studios

BBC Studioworks has agreed to make what's described as a significant investment into Elstree Studios, as well as extending its lease until March 2029.

The agreement between the two companies will see BBC Studioworks take control of George Lucas Stage Two for three years until December 2024.

Both parties have committed to all three stages used by BBC Studioworks at Elstree Studios being net zero by 2030. Considerable improvements to help reduce the environmental impact of the facility, including a new heating system and new dock doors are already in progress with further plans to follow, they said.

Investment plans include dressing room refurbishments, improved accessibility across the associated areas and a complete redecoration in terms of flooring, wall protection and corridors within the areas operated by BBC Studioworks.

The long-term commitment from both sides gives Elstree the ability to invest in and modernise its facilities whilst concentrating on sustainable solutions and maintaining its position as a market leading facility.

Among the shows delivered by BBC Studioworks at Elstree Studios are Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice, and A League of Their Own.
