EVS Launches Fast and Reliable Ingest-to-Post Solution for Entertainment Studios at NAB2019 posted: 14/04/2019

Solution leverages new XS-NEO software-defined server and IPD-VIA Ingest app, providing 24p cinematic framerate support

At the 2019 NAB Show, EVS unveiedl a new ingest-to-post solution that speeds live multi-camera feed ingest and post-production functions, and provides support for the 24p cinematic framerate routinely used in entertainment programming. The new solution leverages EVS' software-defined server technology and microservices architecture for faster, more efficient studio entertainment workflows.

The new offering is based on two EVS products that will be presented for the first time at NAB 2019. XS-NEO is EVS' first software-defined server, providing simple, efficient ingest for studio and post-production operations. It offers dynamic, concurrent support of multiple formats, codecs and framerates. The new server also benefits from EVS' unique loop recording technology, which means frames are never missed. Built on EVS' core VIA platform of modular services and engines and hosted on EVS' reliable PMR processing module, XS-NEO embraces all of the benefits of IP connectivity, but also supports SDI-based productions.

The IPD-VIA Ingest app is at the core of the ingest-to-post solution and is one of the first applications presented from EVS' new VIA platform. Through an intuitive HTML 5 web interface it enables the control and scheduling of live feeds ingested directly into the XS-NEO server. The EVS solution natively writes onto third-party storage as well as Avids Interplay production management workflow solution. Content can then be edited in post-production during recording, and as a multi camera sequence. Easy-to-find metadata also reduce editors' time searching for the right shots and managing content, freeing them to focus on creative tasks.

EVS introduces the ingest to post solution to help customers shorten their production cycles and increase productivity. In studio productions, time is money, so this solution is designed to speed up ingest and essential post-production tasks while empowering creative teams with the tools they need for the most inspired storytelling, said S bastien Georges, VP Product at EVS.

The new products were founded on the EVS' VIA platform, which sits at the core of all new EVS solutions and is seeding the future ecosystem of live production. VIA enables more flexible, open and futureproof workflows, and more creative user experiences.

EVS' new XS-NEO and IPD-VIA Ingest app was presented on the EVS booth (SL3816) at the Las Vegas Convention Center throughout the duration of the NAB show.
