Color grading on acclaimed feature For ose in Peril

Technicolor has completed colour grading on For Those in Peril, the first full-length feature from writer/director Paul Wright. The film debuted to significant acclaim during Critic's Week at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and Edinburgh's 2013 International Film Festival.

Produced by Warp Films, Warp X and Film 4, For Those in Peril is tipped to be a hit on this year's festival circuit and the break-out for Wright, who has previously won numerous awards for his short films, including a Bafta for Until the River Runs Red in 2010.

The dark tale set in a remote Scottish fishing community taking in themes such as guilt, grief and the supernatural. The cast, described by the Daily Telegraph as terrifyingly good , is led by promising young actor George MacKay (Defiance, Birdsong) who plays Aaron, the lone survivor of a strange fishing accident that killed five men, including his older brother (Conor McCarron). The village, spurred by folklore, believes Aaron is in some way responsible for the deaths and makes him an outcast. However, Aaron believes his brother is still alive, based on stories told to him by his mother, Cathy, played by Kate Dickie (Prometheus), and sets out to find him and the rest of the men.

Technicolor senior colourist Paul Ensby, completed grading for the film on Autodesk Lustre, attended by Wright and director of photography Benjamin Kracun. Ensby says: Paul Wright has a strong visual sensibility and worked closely with myself and Benjamin on the grade. The film was shot using a wide variety of media, including super 8 and infrared, to create a visually stimulating mix and sometimes surreal look. Creating a foreboding atmosphere was of prime importance so we created a muted palette that places emphasis on the lower contrast along with flashes of black and white, as well as lots of colour separation for the super 8 shots.

For Those in Peril went on general release on 4 October 2013 in the UK.
