Sky on Pole Position with Carbonite Black from Ro

Thursday, April 6th, 2017 [Pinewood Studios, UK] Last weekend's season debut race in Melbourne for motor racing's premier formula also saw the introduction of a new production switcher to Sky's latest UHD Gallery in Isleworth, West London - The Carbonite Black from Ross Video. This new gallery will be used for a variety of sports programming, including Sky's UHD coverage of the entire 2017 F1 season, and the Carbonite Black is an integral part of the gallery's UHD workflow.

Commenting on the new switcher, Mike Ruddell, Sky's Head of Sports Technology said, When used for the F1 UHD workflow this control room operates very differently to what we've done before. As such we had a great opportunity to try something different on the equipment front. The Carbonite Black was a good fit for our requirements particularly the way we could use the Dashboard' product to create a simple user interface. This gallery is designed to operate with minimal crew so simplicity and reliability are key. It was good to see how quickly our teams got up to speed on the operation of the switcher with great support from the Ross team.
