UK distributor Aspen Media welcomed a record number of visitors to the DirectOut Technology stand at PLASA recently where DirectOuts full MADI product line was on show.
One of those visitors was Bruce Pont, a Producer and Live/Recording Engineer from bigearsaudio in Eastbourne. Like the other visitors to the stand Bruce threw his card into the pot but he struck lucky at the end of the show by winning a DirectOut Technologies MA2CHBOX headphone amplifier.
MA2CHBOX is a very handy tool for listening to any stereo pair or single mono channel out of three MADI streams via the headphone output. This is particularly useful during recording or live sound mixing where the monitor mixes can be routed to a MADI output from the console. Using the MA2CHBOX musicians can pick their personal monitor mix out of the MADI stream.
Bruce, who claims never to have won anything before, has over 30 years experience in the audio industry, primarily in Live Sound and Recording and is currently putting together a garden studio where the MA2CHBOX will prove invaluable for critical mastering. Interestingly the garden studio must also include a potting shed to keep his wife happy in her garden.
Bruce plans to use the MA2CHBOX in anger for critical listening during the recording of a Treasure Field album in the New Year.
Other products in the DirectOut range include MADI routers, SRCs, converters, mic pres, auto switchers, splitters and headphone amps.
