Nautel to Show Latest Transmission Technologies at IBC 30 Aug 2013
Nautel, one of the world's largest broadcast transmitter manufacturers, will give visitors to IBC a look at the company's latest transmission technologies as well as hands-on demonstrations of their award-winning transmitter control via the Advanced User Interface (AUI).
Featured at IBC is the company's growing line of LPTV UHF transmitters. These transmitters combine an advanced software defined modulator with ASI, SMPTE310M and TSoIP Gigabit Ethernet inputs, high efficiency LDMOS amplifiers, Nautel's industry leading AUI web interface, and both linear and non-linear adaptive pre-correction all in a compact enclosure. Operating in the UHF Band, the NT Series products support four major worldwide digital TV transmission standards, and can be upgraded to a different standard via software. The series includes the 4 RU NT150 and new NT250, with digital power outputs of 2 150, and 2 - 250 Watts respectively and the NT500, a 5 RU unit with digital power output of 10 500 Watts.
Also new to IBC is Nautel's expanded NVLT Series of analog-only FM transmitters. Since its introduction last year, NVLT transmitters have received acclaim for their high efficiency (72%), integrated, full-featured direct to channel digital exciters and modular solid-state, hot-swappable, redundant architecture. A full suite of operational capabilities is offered in the NVLT series including PushRadio ; Livewire IP Audio I/O; Shoutcast & IceCast streaming inputs; local content storage; USB audio backup; dynamic RDS, dual SCA and stereo coders; scheduler and playlists. An Orban Inside option with full Advanced User Interface (AUI) integration is also available. Control capabilities include full local or remote access via Nautel's award winning web based AUI with onboard audio spectrum analyzer, modulation monitor and other powerful instrumentation. The series has been expanded this year to provide power outputs ranging from 3.5 kW to 40 kW.
DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) capability is of great interest to medium wave broadcasters around the world, and Nautel is a key player in the rollout of this technology. The company will host a DRM event, titled DRM listeners: Building to a Billion, on their stand (8.C61) on Saturday 14 September from 15:00 17:00. Nautel recently began the deployment of 27 medium wave DRM-enabled transmitters and associated equipment to India as part of All India Radio's transition to digital broadcasting, possibly the world's largest digital radio initiative to date. 100kW, 200 kW and 300 kW transmitters will be placed throughout the country, all configured for DRM30 transmission.
Nautel will also demonstrate a technology jointly developed by Nautel and Omnia, called Omnia Direct, which permits a single AES-EBU cable to carry the baseband signal in digital form between the Omnia 11 and a Nautel NV Series transmitter. This 100% digital path eliminates the noise and distortion of A/D converters and reduces potential overshoots. Digital direct transfer eliminates the need to use an analog composite signal, which prior to the Nautel/Omnia collaboration was the only reliable way to ensure maximum modulation for station loudness.
We're pleased to be at IBC with all of these great new products and technologies, said Chuck Kelly, Nautel Director of Sales. In particular, our recent expansion into the television market and the excitement over the DRM deployment in India will be of great interest to our worldwide partners as well as show attendees. Nautel now has transmission solutions for every type of radio broadcaster in the world as well as the low power TV community.
