SA movie continues film festival success --

Roberta Durrant s feel-good South African family film, Felix, continues its successful run on the international film festival circuit and will screen at The Labia in Cape Town in December 2013.

Felix has already won three awards, namely the Audience Award at Durban International Film Festival in South Africa, Best Children s Film at the Lucas International Children s Film Festival in Germany and the Michel Award for Best Film at The Filmfest Hamburg Michel Children and Youth Film Festival.

The film received exceptional feedback from international audiences, getting a standing ovation at its sold-out BFI London Film Festival screening with two extra screenings at the Vancouver International Film Festival.

Durrant says: At the London screening, Keith Shiri, the BFI programmer for Africa, spoke of Felix as a story of hope coming out of South Africa, which was a refreshing change away from films reflecting the past. It s been a recurrent response internationally, where audiences have really responded to the film s positivity.

The movie features at another five international film festivals, including the Kids International Film Festival in Toronto in April 2014, the Africa International Film Festival in Nigeria from 10 to 17 November 2013 and the International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino! in Poland from 1 to 8 December 2013.

The film has also been selected to screen at the Washington Heights Children and Young People s Film Festival (KidCinemaFest) in America from 7 to 14 November 2013 and at Reel 2 Real International Film Festival For Youth in Canada from 4 to 11 April 2014.

Felix is a Penguin Films production for Sabido Productions, distributed by Crystal Brook Distribution and will be available on DVD in South African rental stores from 6 January 2014 and retail stores from 20 January 2014.
