Industry Alert: Two Australian films selected for IDFA

Two Australian feature documentaries have been selected to screen at the 26th Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

Establishing itself as one of the worlds leading documentary film festivals and markets, IDFA is dedicated to screening and promoting creative documentaries.

It's a great testament to Australian talent and storytelling that these terrific documentaries have been selected for IDFA, said Ross Matthews, Head of Production Investment for Screen Australia. IDFA is one of the premiere events on the international documentary calendar and we're delighted to see these films playing in such a prestigious environment.

The groundbreaking experimental film Aim High in Creation!, written and directed by Anna Broinowski and produced by Lizzette Atkins, will have its international premiere at the festival, after its debut at Melbourne International Film Festival in July. Screening in the Reflecting Images: Panorama section, this revolutionary film is about the cinematic genius of North Koreas late Dear Leader, Kim Jong-il.

The powerful and controversial documentary Ukraine is Not a Brothel, which had its premiere recently at the Venice Film Festival, will screen in the Reflecting Images: Best of Fests section. Directed and produced by Kitty Green and co-produced by Jonathan auf der Heide and Michael Latham, it offers a fascinating look into the lives of Ukraine's topless feminist sensation Femen, a movement against patriarchy that has taken the European media by storm.

IDFA will take place from November 20 December 1 2013.
