With the NFL increasingly playing games overseas, it presents a unique challenge for the league to maintain its various tech enhancements and investments from replay to player tracking, and more across all stadiums. Chris Vassallo, Director, Stadium Infrastructure & Football Technology at the NFL shares what's of top priority for the league and how they continue to find areas to invest to improve the live game experience, including replay and player/ball tracking:
The NBA is always at the forefront of innovation in 2024, some of the most notable advancements and experimentations occurred at All-Star Weekend and in the NBA Cup. Barney Carleton, Senior Director, Broadcast Planning and Strategy at the NBA shares what was learned, how challenging it is to put video into an interactive basketball court, and much more.
A major innovation in the broadcasting of live golf has been the addition of AR-graphic-driven tracing of shots coming from a live drone. Michael Raimondo, VP, Broadcast Technology at PGA TOUR Entertainment shares what goes into making that happen and why it's become a go-to shot for producers:
In 2024, the NHL innovated in numerous areas of the live broadcast and overall workflow of video content and distribution. Perhaps, most notably, the work the league has done in the realm of live cloud production is making the most significant impact. Grant Nodine, SVP, Technology at the NHL spoke about what the cloud is enabling, the league's work with AWS, and more:
