BT named leader in Asia Pacific for next-generation telecoms according to IDC

Latest IDC MarketScape report positions BT Global Services as a leader in Asia Pacific for the fifth year running

BT today announced it has been named a leader for the fifth consecutive year in the IDC MarketScape: Asia Pacific Next-Generation Telcos: Telecom Services 2014-2015 Vendor Assessment*.

Noting BT Global Services' strategy, capabilities and track record, the IDC report highlights BT's commitment to the Asia Pacific region through continued investments in networks, services portfolio and people. The report also mentions the continued growth of BT's customer base in the region.

Specifically, IDC highlights BT's strengths in the following key areas:

Continuing to lead in innovation: The report specifically outlines three examples of BT's recent innovation in Asia Pacific:

o Partnering with technology vendors, software providers and customers to deliver innovative solutions such as its BT for Life Science R&D and BT Global Trace platform

o Partnering with Tshinghua University in Beijing, China, to create a supply chain center of excellence (COE)

o Working with a number of global customers to trial network functions deployment based on NFV (Network Functions Virtualisation) approach and will be assessing SDN (Software-defined Networking) -enabled solutions with customers .

Differentiated industry-specific solutions: BT is also focused on vertical-specific solutions to differentiate itself from its competitors.

Strong professional capabilities: Professional services capability has been one of BTs key strengths with most of its core services wrapped with professional and consultancy services.
