Rakuten Wuaki will be the first VOD offering premium content in 4K HDR in Europe Samsung will work with Rakuten Wuaki to expand the availability of TV Plus in Europe offering the latest movies and series 4 k HDR to enjoy them on the manufacturer TVs QLED.

Coinciding with the celebration of MIPTV in Cannes, Samsung Electronics, and Rakuten Wuaki, provider of video on demand (VOD) content 4K with high dynamic range (HDR), announced today the expansion of the availability in Europe of the Samsung TV Plus service. With this announcement, Rakuten Wuaki (in collaboration with Samsung) becomes the first VOD service that will commercialize films premiere and premium content in 4K HDR throughout Europe.

Released in Germany in January 2017, TV PLUS will be available in five European countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom and will feature content tailored to consumers in the region. This friendly service for the user allows owners of a TV Samsung Smart TV surf and quickly access popular VOD channels using your Internet connection.

Heeman Lee, Vice President of the connected TV in Samsung Electronics services, acknowledges that "in Samsung our goal is help users discover content that want to see rather than hinder the search. With this in mind, we proudly work with Rakuten Wuaki to expand the availability of TV PLUS in Europe, offering the quickest way of discovering the latest movies and series 4 k HDR to enjoy them on Samsung televisions QLED".

TV over IP

Samsung TV Plus is an innovative experience that allows users to easily access content, including movies and previews in 4K (and HDR) in the categories of releases recently, child, action and comedy, from television stations by network IP that Rakuten Wuaki offers.

The interface of the application includes a menu of channels drop-down, similar to the traditional providers of cable TV or satellite, which lets users rent or buy your favorite movies in high quality quickly and directly. This process makes the user experience is optimized and pleasant, which represents a unique and revolutionary opportunity to maximize the potential of the films with quality 4K HDR within predominantly linear television experience.
