When the kykNET comedy Lui maar op, Belinda returns to the screen early in April, viewers will find Chris van Niekerk in the role of the beloved character, Frans. Eric Nobbs who previously played the part of Frans sadly passed away on 23 October 2022 during the production of the series.

Lui maar op, Belinda s new season kicks off in April The third season of Lui maar op, Belinda kicks off on Monday 3 April at 20:00 on kykNET. The comedy series follows the trials and tribulations of a group of displaced characters who are involved with a hardware store in George. Familiar characters make their return in the new series. Br milda van Rensburg is continuing to play the title role opposite Annelisa Weiland (Annetjie) while Duncan Johnson (Ian), Wian Taljaard (Dirkie) and Carmen Maarman (Maggie) will carry on providing delightful entertainment. During the first three episodes of the series, Frans will still be played by Eric.

A handful of known actors such as Karli Heine, Albert Maritz, Richard van der Westhuizen, Eckard abe, Wilhelm van der Walt and Helene Truter make their appearances in the series.

And Sonja Herholdt will pop in to pay a visit to the quirky people of the hardware store. It will also be the first time Br milda and Eckard will be appearing together in a TV series since they appeared as Louwna and Chris Edwards in the well-known M-Net soap, Egoli.

Desir is furthermore not only the scriptwriter but also the star of Magda Louw currently on ykNET. This will be followed by Lui maar op, Belinda in the same time slot. At the end of the second season of Lui maar op, Belinda in 2021, Belinda discovered she has breast cancer. According to director Ben Heyns, viewers will be taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride by Br milda's portrayal of Belinda's very challenging journey.

We will laugh with her, but we are also going to properly cry with her. And finally, we will also see a softer side of Maggie, the hellcat of the series. She is going to win over hearts, he says.

Also, believe it or not, but Belinda and Annatjie have crossed paths in their younger days and we will see exactly what happened that day, Ben reveals. There will be a flashback to their youth in one of the episodes.

The younger versions of Belinda, Annatjie and Frans are respectively played by Ilse-Lee van Niekerk (Troukoors), Augusta Zietsman (Dinge van 'n kind) and Adriaan Havenga (Die Byl and Fraksie). Adriaan was recently honoured as the best upcoming artist during kykNET's Fi sta awards.

Honouring the memory of Eric Nobbs Ben says every member of the cast and production team has been deeply affected by Eric's passing.

It was very difficult to return to the set, but everybody wanted to do it to honour Eric's memory. He was a very disciplined actor and was so dedicated. Nothing derailed him as an actor. He undoubtedly would have said the show must go on . . .'

According to Homebrew Films, the producers of the series, three episodes with Eric as the character Frans have been completed and the script for the series was finalised.

After consulting with Desr , Eric's wife, she too agreed it would have been Eric's wish for his character to continue living on, says Wilmer M ller, the publicist of the series.
