Schaeffler Opens New Training Center in Eltmann, Germany

Schaeffler has officially opened its new technical training center in Eltmann, Germany. Among the guests who were provided with information about the new classrooms, technical equipment and contents of training during the ceremony were Michael Ziegler, mayor of Eltmann, Helmut Zirnsak, deputy mayor of Ebelsbach, and Bernhard Russ, deputy administrator of the Hassberge district. The training center was officially opened by Robert Schullan, Member of the Executive Board of Schaeffler AG and President Industrial, and Karlheinz Lindner, who is responsible for all technical training activities worldwide as Vice President of the Technical Office in Eltmann. The training center was relocated from Hirschaid to Eltmann for reasons of space.

With more than 225,000 different products, Schaeffler offers the widest product range in the rolling bearing sector and provides reliability, efficiency and safety in thousands of applications. With our training courses, we ensure that our employees and sales partners in particular always keep their technical knowledge up to date. Our objective is to provide not only bearings but also technically and economically optimized solutions to our customers , says Robert Schullan during the opening ceremony. Schaeffler offers the widest product range in the rolling bearing industry with more than 225,000 products from miniature bearings only a few millimeters wide, e.g. for dental drills, to large-size bearings with an outside diameter of several meters, e.g. for wind turbines. Technical training for customers and employees plays an important role in ensuring that products are designed, selected and handled correctly and function properly. It also helps to achieve maximum performance and cost-effectiveness while minimizing lifecycle costs.

Schaeffler has conducted training on various levels for its customers, sales partners and employees in the new T V-certified facilities in Eltmann since the beginning of the year. In future, all standard rolling bearing training will take place here. After a long construction and renovation period, today we are very pleased to officially open the new training center and all the amenities it offers. All participants will find an ideal environment for theoretical and practical training here , explains Karlheinz Lindner.

The new training center in Eltmann is also responsible for the central planning and coordination of the contents of all training activities worldwide. The training coordination center's employees are currently supporting training courses conducted in 30 Schaeffler Technology Centers or sales offices worldwide by more than 100 trainers with their comprehensive methods expertise. The most important contents of training comprise basic product knowledge about the design and function of rolling bearings, plain bearings and linear guidance systems, their selection and calculation, for example using the online catalog medias or the calculation software Bearinx , the mounting and dismantling of rolling bearings, and condition monitoring. In addition to the training courses in Eltmann, advanced training is provided at several locations in Germany. These include Schweinfurt (mounting of large-size bearings), Homburg (linear technology and systems engineering) and Herzogenrath (condition monitoring). The training center in Eltmann also develops and provides numerous online training courses. Internal training for Schaeffler employees is offered in addition to external training for customers or sales partners. The target groups of the wide range of training courses are, for example, design engineers, mounting personnel, maintenance technicians, and employees in sales or purchasing departments.

The training center in Eltmann provides large classrooms with state-of-the-art equipment for theoretical training. A hall with an adjacent preparation room can be used for practical mounting training sessions. A video conference room for communication with trainers at locations abroad or learning in virtual classrooms is also available.

In Germany alone, more than 2,500 participants attend around 250 technical training courses held by Schaeffler each year. The duration of training for customers and sales partners is a few days up to two weeks depending on the focus of the training. Internal technical training for Schaeffler employees can take up to six weeks or longer in order to ensure the best qualification possible for their area of responsibility.

Both town and region are also benefiting from the new Schaeffler training center. External participants in particular use the hotels and restaurants in and around Eltmann. Bamberg nearby is also a popular destination for training participants for sightseeing and accommodation. Eltmann can be easily reached by train thanks to the rail connection Ebelsbach-Eltmann. The new training center is also an improvement for the roughly 520 Schaeffler employees at the Eltmann location. To provide adequate catering for all training participants, Schaeffler has reopened the company canteen at the location, which can also be used by all employees.
