Harris Corporation Celebrates National Engineers Week; Honors Chief Technologist Mark Graham with Prestigious Fellow Award

MELBOURNE, FL, February 18, 2013 Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will celebrate National Engineers Week, February 18-21, by recognizing its 6,000 engineers at events at Harris locations and announcing awards for significant technical and engineering accomplishments during the past year. Throughout the week, the company will conduct technology demonstrations, seminars, and contests designed to highlight innovative thinking. Featured guest speakers include Dr. Patrick Simpkins, director of engineering, NASA, and Greg Martin, director of operations, Royal Caribbean. Students and faculty from local public high schools also are invited to attend presentations, tour Harris facilities, and hold career discussions with Harris engineers. National Engineers Week is a great opportunity to highlight engineering achievements and the contributions of engineers throughout the year, said R. As part of the week-long events, the company named Mark Graham the 2013 recipient of the Harris Corporation Fellow Award the companys highest recognition for engineering achievement. Graham, a chief technologist with Harris Government Communications Systems segment in Palm Bay, Florida, will be honored at the companys annual Fellows Banquet on March 7. Graham is an industry expert in developing world-class network system architectures that are used in mission critical government and commercial communications solutions. He played a significant role in shaping the proposals for three major Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contracts awarded to the company during the past year. He also led the implementation team for the new Harris Trusted Enterprise Network offering that enables organizations to move massive amounts of data securely over a nationwide, high-capacity terrestrial communications network. Graham has a bachelors degree in mathematics from West Georgia College and has authored multiple papers related to FAA technology, for which he has received several awards from the Air Traffic Control Association. Marks accomplishments in support of the National Airspace System are legendary, and he is considered a national asset by the FAA, said John OSullivan, vice president, Mission Critical Networks, Harris Government Communications Systems.
