Citytv Gives Bir to New Original Comedy Series Seed on Monday Nights Coming Feb. 4

Seed follows three different families that are united whether they like it or not by Harry, their formerly anonymous sperm donor

TORONTO (December 11, 2012) Inseminating a fresh new take on family comedy, Citytv tangles together a sperm donor, his DNA, and three very different households to create a one-of-a-kind family tree with the new original series Seed, premiering Monday, Feb. 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings).StarringToronto-born comedic actor Adam Korson (2 Broke Girls), the 13-episode, half-hour series features a talented all-Canadian cast, with one of the country's funniest exports, Tom Green (The Tom Green Show) in a one episode guest-starring role. From the creative team of Joseph Raso (Zombies & Cheerleaders) and award-winning writer/producer Mark Farrell (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made in Canada, Corner Gas), Seed joins Citytv's midseason roster and will be followed by the original multi-camera comedy series Package Deal later this season (additional broadcast details to be announced at a later date).

Seed tells the story of Harry, a single, underachieving bachelor/bartender who reluctantly begins a relationship with three unique and separate recipient families a laid-back lesbian couple with a nine-year-old son, a neurotically hopeful single mom-to-be, and an up-tight, upper-class family with a rebellious teenage daughter with whom he'll come to share more than just his DNA.

In the season premiere of Seed, entitled Ill Conceived, Harry (Korson) discovers his trips to the sperm bank (a.k.a. bank machine) as a young man have resulted in kids lots of them. When the story begins years later, Harry receives a knock on the door from nine-year-old Billy (William Ainscough), a kid with two moms, who has just hacked into the sperm bank's database. While Harry quickly becomes Billy's missing father-figure, Harry learns of another offspring, 15-year-old Anastasia (Abby Ross), who instantly idolizes him as the cool parent she thinks she deserves. Though Harry's eager to reap the benefits of fatherhood without any of the responsibility Billy's and Anastasia's parents are loath to let him into their lives.

Meanwhile, Harry meets Rose (Carrie-Lynn Neales, The L.A. Complex), a beautiful, albeit neurotic, single woman who's tired of dealing with men and their games, and decides to have a baby on her own. Despite his permanent bachelor lifestyle, Harry comes to believe that his many sessions with that swimsuit catalogue at Cryobank may bring some meaning to his life, a legacy beyond his mastery of video games.

Seed is produced by Force Four Entertainment and is currently in production in Halifax. The Force Four production team includes Supervising Producer Paula J. Smith (Less Than Kind) and Producer/Line Producer Karen Wentzell (Trailer Park Boys).
