Out In Africa Film Festival celebrates LGBTI themed movies --

The Out in Africa Film Festival aims to stimulate conversation and promote a sense of belonging and pride amount the South African lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex individuals (LGBTIs). The festival will screen films which explore identity, lifestyles and relevant issues from 13 to 16 November at Cinema Nouveau Rosebank in Johannesburg and V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Love Is Strange

Directed by: Ira Scahs

John Lithgow and Alfred Molina play long-term lovers and newly-weds who are suddenly pulled apart. A profound and good-humoured tale of enduring love in the face of religiously inspired and sanctioned homophobia.

Pride

Directed by: Matthew Warchus

A feel good true story about the London Pervs who went off to Wales to stand in solidarity with the Pits - striking miners during Thatchers determined demolition of the unions. Refreshments will be served on opening night prior to the screening, courtesy of Cinema Nouveau.

Reaching For the Moon

This biopic dramatises the turbulent, complicated 15 yearlong affair of two powerful artists - American poet Laureate and Pulitzer prize winner Elizabeth and architect and designer of the iconic Flamengo Park in Rio Lota de Macedo Soares.

The Skeleton Twins

Directed by: Craig Johnson

Maggie and Milo are estranged twins suddenly thrown together in a time of crisis. Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader, (Saturday Night Live) deliver wonderfully dramatic and comic performances as twins in trouble.
