SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 6, 2016-- (NASDAQ:AMZN) - As Amazon gears up for its second annual Prime Day on July 12, one new component for customers in a growing number of cities is the opportunity to get select deals delivered in an hour or less. Prime Now, Amazon's superfast delivery service, has grown rapidly to more than 40 metropolitan areas worldwide since first launching in Manhattan in December of 2014.
The only thing better than snapping up amazing deals on Prime Day is having your order arrive just minutes or hours after placing your order through Prime Now, said Stephenie Landry, worldwide vice president of Prime Now. Prime Day is all about rolling out the red carpet for Prime members, and we know customers love the amazing convenience of receiving their order in lightning-fast speeds.
Prime Now-Exclusive Deals for Prime Day
In celebration of Prime Day, Prime Now will feature deals on select items each day beginning on Wednesday, July 6, through Prime Day on July 12. During that timeframe, members who place their first-ever Prime Now order using promotional code 10PRIMENOW will receive $10 off that order, as well as a promotional code for an additional $10 to shop on Prime Now later in the month.
Prime Now Restaurants Deal
Through Prime Now, Amazon offers free delivery in one hour or less from favorite local restaurants in 12 metropolitan areas across the U.S. Prime members in eligible restaurant delivery areas who make a qualifying purchase on July 12 on the Amazon.com or Primenow.com websites or apps will receive a promotional code for $20 off a future Amazon Restaurants order.
Since Prime Day last year, Prime Now has added 33 new metropolitan areas in six countries to the service, enabling even more customers to shop Prime Day deals for one- and two-hour delivery. Some highlights from last year's Prime Day deals available on Prime Now include:
The fastest order delivered on Prime Day 2015 was an iRobot Roomba 595 Pet Vacuum Cleaning Robot to a customer in Austin, Texas. The delivery was made in 10 minutes and 23 seconds.
The top-selling item on Prime Now across all metro areas was the Amazon Fire TV Stick, followed by the Kindle e-reader (6 display) and the iRobot Roomba.
Shoppers in Manhattan ordered the most products for one-hour delivery on Prime Day last year. Austin and Baltimore followed closely behind.
Prime Now is offered exclusively to Prime members in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Berlin, Berkeley, Birmingham (UK), Cincinnati, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Leeds (UK), Liverpool (UK), London, Los Angeles, Manchester (UK), Manhattan, Miami, Milan, Minneapolis, Nashville, Newcastle (UK), Orlando, Osaka (Japan), Paris, Phoenix, Portland, Portsmouth (UK), Raleigh, Richmond, Rome, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Sheffield (UK), South Yorkshire (UK), Surrey (UK), Tampa, Tokyo, Virginia Beach and Yokohama (Japan). In select cities, in addition to the tens of thousands of items available through Prime Now, the service also includes deliveries from local restaurants and stores. Through Prime Now, one-hour delivery is $7.99 and two-hour delivery is free. Amazon Restaurants has free one-hour delivery. Customers can shop on Prime Now at www.primenow.com or through the Prime Now app. Anyone can sign up for Prime and participate in Prime Day, eligible customers can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Prime at www.amazon.com/primeday.
