Spitfire & BT s Phobos convolution syn revealed

Instrument pitched at cinematic electronic and and hybrid compositions

Back in 2016, British sample library experts Spitfire Audio announced a collaboration with electronic artist and composer BT (aka Brian Transeau) to present standalone instrument Phobos - a comprehensive, convolution-based synthesizer aimed at media composers and electronic music producers. Spitfire are calling it a powerful new device to add a unique timbral expansion to your compositions by unlocking the liquid, morphing and transforming capabilities of convolution.

BT has had huge success on the airwaves, on stage and behind the silver screen, with his scores appearing on blockbusters such as The Fast and The Furious and arthouse movies alike. This isnt hit first collaboration with an audio company either - he notably worked with iZotope on both BreakTweaker and StutterEdit.

A year on from when we first saw it, Phobos has seen some GUI improvements and and boasts 20GB of unique hand-built BT rhythms, pulses, textures and atmospheres, which can, according to Spitfire, be morphed in over sextrillion (thats 36 zeros) ways thanks to the so-called polyconvolver engine. This gives the user the ability to quickly and easily create molecular loops, patterns and textures to energise your music and hold your audience at the edge of their seats, say Spitfire.

Phobos will be available in VST, VST3, AU and AAX formats. Until 20th April, it will be available on promo pricing £209 inc. VAT / $229 / 239 inc.
