SMPTE s Lukk to speak at MediaTech 60

TVBEurope is delighted to confirm SMPTE's Howard Lukk as a speaker at MediaTech 360.

The writer and director, who currently serves as director of standards for SMPTE, will be taking part in the interactive panel discussion IP, standards and industry collaboration' on Day One of the MediaTech 360 Summit on Wednesday 7th June.

Moderated by AIMS board chairman Mike Cronk, the discussion will evaluate to what extent the AIMS mandate has provided industry collaboration, whilst contemplating the current state of play with the myriad standards currently in use. It will also look to question whether industry collaboration is an enabling force for good, and whether over-standardising could be cause for concern.

Joining Lukk will be Imagine Communications CTO Steve Reynolds, Clear-Com director of product management Simon Browne, Euro Media Group CTO Ronald Meyvisch, and Terry Kajiura, deputy general manager, project leader of liver production solution planning, Sony IP&S.

Further sessions confirmed for the MediaTech 360 Summit include two masterclasses taking place on Day Two (Thursday 8th June).

The late morning IP Masterclass will see Phil Myers, SAM IP product manager, discuss recent IP case studies to share key lessons learnt to date and insights from both studio as well as OB truck deployments. Myers will draw on two specific examples: Timeline TV's next generation IP OB truck, and BCE's RTL City project.

The Masterclass will also outline the key findings from SAM's recent Global IP Barometer, a worldwide study that provides insight into how the market views the IP transition.

Peter Sykes, strategic technology development manager, Sony, will deliver the second masterclass of the day: An industry briefing looking at the latest developments in High Dynamic Range (HDR)' Sykes will discuss:

Are the standards and production tools in place for end-to-end content production and delivery?

Is HDR just for Ultra HD services or can it be included in HD services too?

How can I start creating HDR content in a live production environment?

How much of this has been proven in the field? Is it all just theory?

MediaTech 360 is spearheaded by the centrepiece two-day Summit and also includes a series of affiliated webinars, roundtables, and briefings; the 2017 TVBAwards; and a broadcast pro audio evening, PSNPresents.

The Summit (7th and 8th June at Millennium Mayfair, London) will focus on the industry's pursuit of standardised IP enablement while addressing how disruptive technology and trends are impacting the strategies and business models of all stakeholders in the media and entertainment industry.
