BELTELECOM connected 300,000 subscribers to GPON technology 23.01.2015

The three hundredth subscriber was connected to GPON technology on January 23, 2015. That is Oleg Ivanovich Gaidukevich, a resident of Soligorsk. The anniversary subscriber was awarded with a gift certificate from Beltelecom allowing free of charge connection and use of byfly and ZALA interactive television services for one year.

GPON (gigabit passive optical network) technology is a type of FTTH (fiber to the home) and involves leading of optical fiber to the apartment of a subscriber.

This technology is being actively introduced by Beltelecom throughout the whole country: in new and existing residential areas, offices and public places. During the process of its application all active intermediate devices are excluded in the subscriber s territory that improves the quality of services and creates conditions for increasing the access speed to the subscriber up to 1 Gbit / s and even more in the future. Having connected to GPON technology, a subscriber gains the following advantages: high-speed Internet access, an opportunity to connect ZALA interactive television to several devices, including an opportunity to view HD content, home phone based on IMS technology, with a wide range of additional services. Today, the benefits of GPON can be evaluated not only in the capital, but in the regional and district centers of the Republic of Belarus as well - all new block of flats and those houses where the national operator is upgrading networks are being connected to optical network.

Beletelecom covers all expenses on connection of subscribers to the new technology. Subscriber terminal is provided for free which enables to provide connection to all multimedia devices in the apartment upon a subscriber's request. Even if from all services enabled by fiber cable you need only phone, it is still important to connect to GPON - copper wires will eventually be out of use.
