Volicon today announced that global television network TV5MONDE has installed an Observer TS (transport stream) monitoring and logging system to fully address the demands of compliance logging as TV5MONDE migrates to an HD technical infrastructure. The Observer system enables reliable, continuous logging of 11 existing services and provides a robust feature set that automates and simplifies a variety of critical monitoring tasks.

Based on Volicons award-winning Observer system, the Observer TS enables continuous logging of MPEG transport streams, monitoring of program QoE, and the seamless export and streaming of MPEG TS or low-resolution proxies across the enterprise or WAN. By logging the native MPEG TS, the Observer TS greatly simplifies troubleshooting, chronic resolution, and regulatory proof of conformance. Other compelling features for TV5MONDE included the Observer systems integrated QC and loudness control functionality.

TV5MONDE is big on subtitles, and with the ability to log our full multi-program transport stream, we can closely monitor the outgoing service, added Delaporte-Bernues. The combination of the Observers logging capability with our automation systems on-air logs makes service checks easy, and content can be extracted and shared via email. At TV5MONDE, the Observer system allows the broadcaster to automate extraction of content for tagged events such as a loss-of-service alert from a satellite downlink probe. With ready access to the data and A/V content associated with a possible fault, TV5MONDE supervisors can maintain their focus on solving issues, not tracking them. Because the Volicon solution allows users to extract content manually or through tags and remote controls, the broadcaster can easily add sponsorship and catch-up deliveries to its legal and quality control-focused monitoring and compliance work.
